The Colnago V4Rs Disc Brake Frameset has a lot in common with its V3Rs predecessor, but it now performs better aerodynamically and is very slightly lighter. Tested in five different configurations prior to the release of the final product, both in the wind tunnel and in the real world, the V4Rs represent the perfect balance between ride quality and stiffness. Stiffness has, in fact, reduced slightly in the head tube while it remains the same in the bottom bracket area, resulting in a more solid bike with more stable handling.
Another key new benefit of this latest model has increased resistance to impact, particularly in vulnerable areas such as the seatstays, maximising strength in the event of a crash. The latest carbon structure is also more flexible with greater resilience in general. Stack-reach ratios are now consistent across the sizes to retain the sublime handling and racy feel of the bike in every frame. Created 'ready-to-race', the pro-inspired geometry is aggressive yet won't feel uncomfortable after hours of hard riding.
A CeramicSpeed SLT headset reduces the chances of both contamination and corrosion. Pairing this frameset with the CC.01 bar (purchased separately) creates a fully integrated system. This bar was originally created for the V4Rs and then debuted on the C68 model Colnago claims a 16% reduction in drag with this setup, with no detrimental effect on stiffness compared to using a round bar. However, the frameset is also compatible with traditional handlebars if preferred.
The space for tyres up to 32mm wide will be an important feature for those riders who value higher levels of comfort in addition to performance and the frameset is compatible only with electronic groupsets. A colour-matched carbon aero seatpost delivers a smart finishing touch.
